(Mini) Greedy Bird Baking Enterprise #12 Chocolate Cornflake Cakes

For today's enterprise I decided to enlist the Monster's aid. So we went for something quick and easy. (A thinly veiled excuse for me to make something that I can't get wrong.) Her favourite part was the decoration. Inevitably more Smarties ended up in her tummy than on the cakes.

The hardest part for her was waiting for the cakes to set.

So we didn't.

  1. she takes after her maman ;)
    recipe, please. looks really good.

  2. It is a sign of how rubbish a baker I am that I use a recipe for chocolate cornflake cakes! So here it is, it's from Nigel Slater, and it's delish.
Melt 50g butter, 4 tablespoons of golden syrup (light corn syrup) and 100g plain chocolate together. Then stir in the cornflakes. Leave to set.
The Smarties decoration were my own invention. I know, I'm crazy like that. But you could put anything on. I made some at Easter and put on mini eggs. I could probably just make these every weekend and be very happy. Oh, and you can use rice crispies as well.
I think that's it. What a long and complicated explanation for something so simple!

  3. I have a big box of Cornflakes in my cupboard. I'm sure Simon wouldn't mind I use it.

Many thank yous if you're taking the time to leave a comment. You are most lovely in my sight.
